Error code LR40 usually means that the player hosting the multiplayer session and other players are no longer in sync with each other.
This issue can have a number of different causes:

guide to exclude this as a possible cause.
Some software may interfere with Anno 1800
while it is running. We would suggest disabling any software
that is not needed while you play the game.
Difference in game data
If the host of the game and the players are exchanging data that is not compatible, desync issues can occur when the game is dependent on working with the sent data.
Make sure that your game is up-to-date to avoid version conflicts. The best way to do this is to verify your game files with Ubisoft Connect PC
Disable any kind of mods or trainers that may influence the game. They are not officially supported and may lead to unexpected behaviour.
The development team is working hard on preventing bugs from happening in the first place, but sometimes unexpected issues can arise even after testing the game thoroughly.
To be able to fix these kinds of issues that could lead to desynchronisation, the development team needs to reproduce the issue first in order to be able to fix it. You can help them investigate them by:
