Game crashes with Microsoft Storage Space Device

Most of our games do not support Microsoft Storage Space Devices. We cannot guarantee that games will run properly when installed on a Microsoft Storage Space Device.

If you experience crashes with your game, please try to install it on a standard hard disk drive.

If you are unsure whether your game is installed on a Microsoft Storage Space Device, you can easily check by creating a DxDiag report. In the DxDiag report, please find the section Disk & DVD/CD-ROM Drives. This section lists the drives built into your PC. In Model you will find the name of your hard disk drive. Check if the Model of the drive you installed the game on is called Microsoft Storage Space Device.

Here is an example of what this information looks like in a DxDiag report:

Drive: C:
Free Space: 66.5 GB
Total Space: 114.1 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: Samsung SSD 650 120GB

Drive: E:
Free Space: 578.7 GB
Total Space: 942.0 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: Microsoft Storage Space Device

If you would like to convert the Microsoft Storage Space Device into standard hard disk drive space but are unsure how to do this, please contact Microsoft Support directly.

If installing the game on a standard hard disk space does not fix the game crashes, the steps in this FAQ may help you further.
