WHAT IS A YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT?

With the release of Hyper Scape, a new free-to-play game, Ubisoft has created a new type of account to allow young players to play while offering an enhanced level of protection and features that provide parents/legal guardians with information about their gaming activity. These accounts come with specific settings that have been set with the children’ safety in mind and offer activity reports that are sent to parents/legal guardians.

Young players can begin the registration process for an account on their own through the Hyper Scape website or by using the Hyper Scape installer, but it must be finalized by a parent or legal guardian.

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR HAVING A YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT?

Players must be at least thirteen years of age to create a Ubisoft account. Players interested in playing Hyper Scape will start the creation of a young player account if they are between thirteen years old and the age of consent set by their applicable data privacy laws.

They will need to enter their parents’/legal guardians’ email address at the beginning of the registration process, and their parent/legal guardian will complete the registration to create the young player account.

Note the following age of consent that aligns with your location:

  • United States, Canada and rest of the Americas: 13 years old
  • Colombia: 18 years old
  • Peru: 14 years old
  • Venezuela: 14 years old
Please note that you must be thirteen years or older to create an account.

If you are thirteen years or older and are unable to complete the registration process successfully, our team is available to help. Please notify us of any issues so that our Support representatives can help you resolve them.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES ASSOCIATED WITH A YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT?

As a parent or legal guardian, you can visit the Parental Access section, which details the settings associated with a young player account and the reports that will be sent to parents/legal guardians.

The settings applied to young player accounts are:

Restricted Chat (Friends Only)

On Uplay PC and in Hyper Scape, young players can only communicate with individuals that have been added and accepted as Ubisoft Friends. They will not receive messages or other contacts from other players that are not on their friends list.

Ubisoft Avatar Protection

Young player accounts do not allow custom avatars for their Ubisoft avatar. They will be presented with an age appropriate selection of default Ubisoft avatars they can choose from when creating their account.

Privacy and Data Protection

The personal data associated with a young player and young player accounts is never used for marketing purposes.

  • No personalized emails about Ubisoft news, community content, or special offers will be delivered to young players.
  • No personalized communications about Ubisoft news, community content, or special offers through Uplay or other Ubisoft sites will be displayed to young players.
  • Ubisoft will not share any young player information with external partners.
The email reports parents/legal guardians will receive are:

Monthly Activity Reports

Parents or legal guardians will receive a monthly email providing information about the young player’s activity for the past month.

  • Playtime Activity or the total time the young player has spent playing Hyper Scape over the course of the past month.
  • Friend Invitations or a list of the users that have added the young player as a Ubisoft Friend over the course of the past month.
  • Purchase Notifications
Parents and legal guardians will receive an email instantly whenever their child makes a purchase on the Ubisoft Store, or within the Hyper Scape in-game store.

Please note that these settings only apply to young players on Uplay PC. If you have young players on console, please review this dedicated article about Parental Controls.

I MADE A MISTAKE WHILE ENTERING MY PARENT’S OR LEGAL GUARDIAN’S EMAIL ADDRESS WHEN REGISTERING FOR A YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT. HOW DO I CORRECT IT?

If the parent’s or legal guardian’s email address is originally entered incorrectly, the registration process should be re-started, and the email address entered correctly to move forward with the valid registration of a young player account.

HOW MANY YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNTS CAN BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SAME PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN ACCOUNT?

As a parent or legal guardian, up to ten young player accounts can be associated with your standard Ubisoft account.

I AM UNABLE TO CREATE A YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Young player accounts must be created directly from the Hyper Scape website or from the Hyper Scape installer. If you are below thirteen years of age, you are not eligible to create a Ubisoft account yet.

If you are over the applicable data privacy age of consent, you qualify for a standard Ubisoft account. Please reference the information about your location below to determine if you qualify for a standard Ubisoft account based on your current age:
  • United States, Canada and rest of the Americas: 13 years old
  • Colombia: 18 years old
  • Peru: 14 years old
  • Venezuela: 14 years old
If you are within the appropriate age window for the registration of a young player account and are attempting to create one from the Hyper Scape website or Hyper Scape installer but are still unsuccessful, please try browser troubleshooting. If the issue continues, notify our team so that we can assist you further.

I ALREADY HAVE GAMES ON MY STANDARD UBISOFT ACCOUNT AS A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN. CAN A YOUNG PLAYER ACCESS THESE ON THEIR YOUNG PLAYER ACCOUNT IF IT’S ASSOCIATED TO MINE?

Any content is associated to your Ubisoft account and cannot be shared with any other Ubisoft account, whether it’s a standard or young player account. However, Hyper Scape is a free-to-play game and can be played for free on any account.
