We’re excited to announce that Ubisoft is introducing cross-play and cross-progression for select games. We understand these features have been long-awaited, so we’ve put together some key information to outline what this means, what is changing, and how you can be prepared to connect with your friends.

These features apply to Ubisoft accounts, PlayStation accounts, Xbox accounts, Nintendo Switch accounts, and Stadia accounts.

What is cross-play?
Cross-play is a feature that allows you to connect online and play with your friends regardless of what platform is used. If you are playing a cross-play supported game on PlayStation, you’ll now be able to connect online and play with your friends who play the same game on Xbox, PC, or any other supported platform the game is available on.


What is cross-progression?
Cross-progression is a feature that allows you to carry your save data from one platform to the next. Your save data will be tied to your Ubisoft account instead of being tied to the account associated with the platform you’re using. If you start playing on PlayStation, you can hop over to Xbox and continue playing where you left off.


What should I know about linking a new account?
You will be notified upon linking an account that the initial account you choose will be the account that must remain associated with your Ubisoft account. It cannot be exchanged for another account hosted on that same first-party platform; this bond will now be permanent.

If the original accounts do not remain linked, it will impact your ability to successfully use cross-play or cross-progression features on your Ubisoft account. Please keep this in mind when establishing the initial account links on your profile.


What about the accounts I already have linked?
Beginning July 28, 2020, any first-party accounts that are currently linked to your Ubisoft account will remain linked to that Ubisoft account, and they will also be established as the reference accounts for cross-play and cross-progression functionality on your Ubisoft account. While you will still be able to unlink these accounts, you must relink the same reference accounts that were originally tied to your Ubisoft account to continue accessing cross-play and cross-progression features.


What are the requirements to participate in cross-play or cross-progression?
To use cross-play and cross-progression features, it’s necessary to have a Ubisoft account. If you do not have a Ubisoft account, you can create one. If you require further assistance completing this step, please reference our account creation guide.

If you already have a Ubisoft account, you can review your linked accounts on the Account Management site to make sure your preferred first-party accounts are linked to your Ubisoft account.
