Frozen Screen on Launch

The issue appears with some 3D-accelerator video cards. Resolve the issue by disabling the 3D Support Running SLI (Scan Line Interleaving) mode. Other possible solutions include changing the Desktop resolution and Color Palette, and ensuring that the video and sound cards are Microsoft DirectX certified.

1. If you have two video cards, contact your video manufacturer for assistance with disabling the 3D Support Running SLI (Scan Line Interleaving) mode. In most cases, the issue will then be resolved.
2. If the issue persists after performing step one, right-click on the Desktop, and select Properties to adjust the Desktop resolution and Color Palette.
3. Click the Settings tab.
4. Set the Color Palette to High Color 16-bit, adjust the Screen Resolution (Screen Area) to 640 by 480, and then click OK.
5. Follow the onscreen prompts to restart Windows as applicable.
6. Run Panzer General 3D Assault to see if the issue is resolved.
7. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step to ensure that Microsoft DirectX certifies your video and sound card drivers.
8. Click on the Start button, select Find, and then choose Files or Folders.
9. Type DXDIAG in the Named box.
10. Ensure the Look In box indicates C:\.
11. Click on Find Now.
12. Double-click on the DXDIAG file in the lower window. (The file looks like a large yellow X.) The DirectX Diagnostic Tool window will now appear.
13. Click the Display tab, look to the right for the Drivers section, and then find the Certified line.
14. If "Yes" appears to the right of the Certified line, proceed to the next step. If "No" appears, contact your video card manufacturer to obtain a DirectX certified driver for your video card.
15. Click the Sound tab on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window. Look to the right for the Drivers section, and then find the Certified line.
16. If "Yes" appears to the right of the Certified line, your video and sound drivers are DirectX certified. The issue lies elsewhere. If "No" appears, contact your sound card manufacturer to obtain a DirectX certified driver for your sound card.
