Troubleshooting technical issues on PlayStation 4

If you encounter issues when trying to run your game on PlayStation 4, please try the below steps in the order listed, testing the issue after each step.

The type of troubleshooting would depend on whether your issue is connectivity related, license related, game data related, or if the disc seems faulty.

If your issue relates to the console itself, we recommend that you contact PlayStation Support directly. 

Make sure your system is up to date
Downloading the latest system software will also update applications that may be required to successfully connect to the wider network.

Disconnect your console from the internet
Some issues may be linked to the inability to download a specific piece of content or to connect to online services.

Disconnecting your console from the internet may allow you to bypass your issue.

Power cycle your console
A number of issues can be solved by power cycling your hardware:

•  Press and hold the PS button on your controller.
•  Choose Turn Off PS4. Make sure the light goes out on the console.
•  Unplug the power cable and wait for 10 seconds.
•  Plug the power cable back in and turn the console back on.

Restore Licenses
If you are unable to access downloadable content restoring the licenses may correct the situation.

Rebuild database
Some technical issues may stop occurring after you rebuild the PlayStation 4's database.
