Low, unstable or capped FPS in For Honor

If you experience FPS capped to 30/60 or if your framerate is unstable, it is most likely related to your VSync settings.

Enabling VSync will force the game to run maximum at your monitors refresh rate (usually 60 Hz) and will in turn will eliminate tearing. If you use double buffered VSync and your FPS cannot match your monitor's refresh rate, this option will cut your FPS in half. You will see frequent FPS drops if your FPS are very close to the refresh rate (or half of it) when VSync is disabled.

You can find the VSync settings in-game by navigating to Options > Display. This is what the available VSync settings mean:

Vsync Off: You will potentially notice tearing but your FPS should be uncapped.
Vsync Double buffered: There will be no tearing but possibly large FPS drops if your PC is too slow for 30/60 FPS. FPS will be capped to the refresh rate.
Vsync Triple buffered: No tearing and no additional FPS drops if PC is too slow. There will be one additional frame of input lag and FPS will be capped to the refresh rate.

If you notice that your FPS are capped at 30, VSync is most likely set to double buffered. Please try to turn it off or switch to triple buffered.
If you notice that your FPS are capped at 60, VSync is most likely set to double or triple buffered. Please try to turn VSync off to unlock your FPS.
If you notice that your FPS are unstable and that your game is stuttering (also in Bot matches), VSync is most likely set to double buffered. Please try to turn it off or switch to triple buffered.

If your FPS are generally low and For Honor stutters for you, you may want to double check if the game is using the right GPU. The game should be using a dedicated GPU by AMD or NVidia, depending on your video card. To find out if it is, please check the display settings.

If For Honor does not use the dedicated GPU in your system, you have two options to make it use the dedicated GPU.

1. You can right-click on the forhonor.exe in the installation directory of the game and choose Run with graphics processor from the dropdown menu. You should then be able to choose between your dedicated NVidia/AMD GPU and your integrated graphics card.

(If this option does not appear for you, please make sure your Operating System and Graphics Driver are up to date.)

2. Alternatively, you can also try to force the game to use the dedicated GPU by defining it in a launch argument. Please try the following argument:
/gfxadapter:1
If this does not fix the issue for you yet, please try increasing the value by 1 and try again. Repeat as often as necessary but be aware that the value cannot be higher than 16.

We also identified an issue with third party drivers for controllers, causing the game to run on lower FPS. If you have low FPS and use a third party driver for your controller, try to either change the driver or disable the direct input support of the game by using this launch argument
/nodinputpad

If you these steps do not fix the FPS issue for you, please don't hesitate to contact our support teams. Note that for technical cases such as these, attaching a Dxdiag and Msinfo to your case will greatly help our agents to provide you with a solution.
