What should I do if I receive the error message "There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product"?

This error indicates that you are probably logged into the wrong account on Uplay PC while launching the game through Steam. To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below:
- If you are still logged in within Uplay, please click on your account username in the top-right corner of Uplay PC and select Log out

- In the Log in dialogue, enter the credentials of the account your game is activated on.

- Relaunch your game through Steam.

You should now be able to run the game. 

If you are unsure Ubisoft Account your game was activated, please contact us!

Please note that for account issues such as these, attaching your ownership files to the ticket will allow our support team to better deal with your case. To retrieve these files, head to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache\ownership.

To help the process along, please also provide your Steam proof of purchase for the game you are having issues with, along with a screenshot of its activation key if available.
